You know the rhyme about the old woman who lived in a shoe, who had so many children she didn’t know what to do? I know how she feels!
Well, maybe not the shoe bit, but perhaps ‘shoe box’ might be appropriate. Our house is definitely on the small side and is currently teeming with lively children.
In reality it is only two extra kids, my nephew and niece, but along with the Boy King the house seems over flowing.
Luckily, the weather has been reasonable so there has been a lot of running around outside and adventures into the woods at the bottom of the field. Then there are trips to the park and the beach, and helping with the animals and planting, so all in all, a complete contrast to their usual London life.
I think the funniest moment so far was when my nephew decided to ride Roly pig! He actually managed to stay on for a complete lap of her pen before he slithered off. I bet he is the only boy in school to write that in his ‘What I did in the Holidays’ essay.
We still have another 10 days to go and lots more things to do, so very little time for blogging this week.
I must get on with breakfast, one egg or two?........
You really make me laugh! I had this dream of self suffeciency when we arrived here. 5 years on & we are renting a couple of properties, the customers eat all my produce & my dream is nowhere to be seen! I am married to a Portuguese man who enjoys the debates with vinho & says I should just relax. The days of office work, smart clothes & makeup have long gone & I now spend my life in a very rural location in a house which seems to have never ending work needed. My animals are nowhere to be seen (except Betty the dog)The grown up children are in England & yet we stay. I too have thought about going organic & although we have quite a few trees the locals use toxic waste to spray & fertilize their crops. I am sure I shall soon grow an extra head!! Oh well, we would still rather be here in my husbands ‘homeland’ reading your amusing tales.
