Working hard on the Silver Coast

Silver Coast Blog| Guinness,

Hello again,

I know you are probably thinking, “where does he find the time to do all he does?” The answer is very simple, I don’t do anything around the house.

That is the domain of the indomitable Sylvie and the wonderful Jess. I have two women in my homelife, Sylvie is the only one who gets to play “hide the sausage” though.

Jess is my gardener and pool cleaner, she is a magnificent girl and we would be lost without her. Jess is one of those fine Brit expats who have turned their hand to anything to earn a crust, we sometimes forget that we aren’t all pensioners here and some of us have to work for a living. I don’t say thank you enough to her for all her hard work, I hope this goes someway to redress the balance.

Some other expats who work terribly hard are the lovely Nora and Alan from Donohue’s Irish bar in Nazare.

It took me quite a while to actually go to the bar, I don’t know why, it just never appealed to me. It was my loss, what a fantastic place it is, decked out just like a traditional pub back home. The main difference being the bi-folding doors at the front of the bar, you can sit there and watch the Ocean waves crashing against the beach.

The coffee in there is so good too, Sylvie says it’s the best she has ever had in Portugal, even the cafe owner from next door goes into the bar for a coffee!

There is live music at the weekends too, I can’t tell you how good it is because, like most live entertainment in Portugal, it begins long after my bedtime. I shall leave it to the youngsters to party the night away.

I wholeheartedly recommend you all visit as soon as possible, don’t put it off like I did.

An Irish pub on the Silver Coast?? Yes! We’re on our way. Thanks James for pointing us once more on the path to righteousness.

I love the Irish bar in Nazare and can’t think of a better place to enjoy a Guinness!
