Reaching out to the British Community around Leiria

Tuesday 15 March – 18.00-20.00hrs

The British Consulate in Lisbon, with the help of other partner organisations, will be holding a series of talks in Leiria on 15 March aimed at raising the awareness of British nationals in this region, of the range of services available to members of the British community in Portugal.

This event has been organised jointly by the British Consulate Lisbon, the UK Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Lisbon based Anglo-Portuguese law office Neville de Rougemont
and financial consultants Imperius Asset Management. The talks will focus on a range of issues from what the Consulate can and cannot do for you, to pensions and benefits, wills and taxation issues. They will be held at Teatro Miguel Franco between 18.00-20.00hrs on Tuesday 15 March and will be followed by a cocktail for all participants. There are 80 places available so please confirm your attendance by emailing Lisbon.consulate@fco.gov.uk by 1 March 2011. Entrance is free.

There will be 4 talks over the evening
- Simona Demuro, Consul, British Consulate – the role of the Consulate and what we can and can’t do. Residence, notarial and legalisation services, car importation and other issues concerning British Nationals living in Portugal
- Matthew Krystman, Director, Imperius Asset Management – EU taxation and changes coming up. QROPS and taxation on pensions and how to choose private health insurance
- Geoffrey Graham, Managing Partner, Neville de Rougemont – wills and taxation
- Darryl England, Department of Work and Pensions – essential information about what help is available from the UK if you are living in Portugal.

Darryl England from the DWP commented that he is looking forward to meeting residents in Central Portugal and hopes that they will find the talks both useful and informative. Simona Demuro, the Consul mentioned that she is delighted by this unique opportunity to join forces with the DWP, Neville de Rougemount Lawyers and Imperius Asset Management and hopes that the British residents will take advantage of this opportunity.
